Cardinal Alumni & Friends

A Message from Holy Cross/Cardinal Mooney Alumni Association VP Rachael Kuffa:

Dear Cardinal Mooney Alumni,

My name is Rachael Kuffa and I was recently elected Vice President of the Holy Cross and Cardinal Mooney Alumni Association. I know what you are thinking... “We have an Alumni Association?” This is a rather new development and I wanted to take an opportunity to reach out to you and tell you about the alumni association and invite you to be involved in what I hope is going to be an active alumni community.

I graduated from Cardinal Mooney in 2001. I got involved in the Cardinal Mooney Alumni Association earlier this year, when Cardinal Mooney’s Director of Advancement, Dan Kilian (also a former Cardinal), reached out to me and asked if I would like to take part in an alumni association he was putting together. I loved the idea of Cardinal Mooney having an alumni association and was eager to help in any way I could.  With social media today it has been fairly easy to stay connected with one another, but we don’t often physically get together and I saw this as a great way to bridge that gap. I also was very excited about the idea of creating an alumni association that would support the school to help ensure its success.

For those of you that do not know, before Cardinal Mooney moved to Marine City in 1990, the Catholic high school in Marine City was part of Holy Cross School. In 1990 that changed and Holy Cross went from Kindergarten to 8th grade and Cardinal Mooney took over the high school in that location. In talking with the Holy Cross Alumni Association, they and we (the Cardinal Mooney Alumni Association) agreed that we all viewed ourselves as one school and should not operate separate alumni associations just because the name of the high school changed. So the newly formed Cardinal Mooney Alumni Association and the long existing Holy Cross Alumni Association decided to join forces. Below, are the officers that represent you as alumni:

President: Marilyn Pavlov (HC class of 1967)

Vice President: Rachael Kuffa (CMC class of 2001)

Secretary: Pat Davis (HC class of 1955)

Treasurer: Jennifer Stiteler (CMC class of 1992)

Our alumni association has two goals. The first is to have events where alumni can come together with the simple purpose of having fun, meeting up, and catching up. Our first event was this past summer at a Tigers baseball game. We had a great turn out and a ton of fun. The second goal is to support the school. The school is nothing without support and who better to support it then those of us who love it so dearly.

Now we have come to the part of the letter where I give you information on you how you can be involved in our Holy Cross and Cardinal Mooney Alumni Association. First, go to the Cardinal Mooney website at and go to the “alumni” section. There you will find the “alumni contact information” form ( Please fill that out. This will provide us with all your current contact information so we can keep you in the loop. Also, while on the website, find our Facebook tab on the home page and “like” us on Facebook. We will update that page regularly and that is where you will be able to find the most up to date information.

Another great way for you to be involved is to support the fundraising events that the school is putting on. We would love to have alumni tables and sections at all our events, but only can do that if alumni come.  We have a major event coming up and would love your support.  The annual Cardinal Mooney Catholic Scholarship Dinner is Saturday, September 23rd. The event is at St. Peter Parish in Mt. Clemens. Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased by contacting the school at (810)765-8825. This year we will have dueling pianos, an open bar, dinner, raffle items and more. This night is huge for the school. All the money raised goes to the scholarship fund. I hope to see some of you there.

For anyone who wants to be more involved with the alumni association on or just has something to say or an idea to share please reach out to me via email at I will make sure to keep you in the loop and share your thoughts and ideas. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I look forward to seeing many of you at events as this alumni association grows and becomes more active.
